Biography

Dr. Manjeet Jassal obtained her MS (five year integrated course ) from IIT Delhi. Subsequently she did her M. Tech. and Ph.D. also from IIT Delhi. She was working with R & D division of Indian Petrochemical Corporation Limited (IPCL), a leader in petrochemical sector for over 13 years. She moved to IIT Delhi as an assistant professor from November 1999. She has authored over 100 research publications in national and international journals and conferences including review articles. Dr. Manjeet is a Life member of the Indian Chemical Society , Indian Society of Analytical Scientists, Fibre forum of India and Asian Polymer Association. Her current interests are mainly in development of smart and functional polymers/fibres for textiles by direct synthesis or modification of polymers/fibres. Recently the smart research group at textile department has developed processable stimuli sensitive polymers. Her interests also include electrospun nanofibers and functional (nano) coatings /finishes.

Nanomaterials (initiated)

Summary of the Project:
The project aimed at development of acrylic based synthetic thickeners for replacement of emulsion thickeners for pigment printing. The monomers were suitably selected and optimized for obtaining a thickener that results in optimum printing performance. The colour value, wash fastness, light fastness, rubbing fastness and feel of the fabric were comparable to RAN-5000.
