Undergraduate Programme at Department of Textile Technology
Admission to all Undergraduate Programme in Textile Department are made through the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE). Details about the JEE can be obtained from the JEE Office. The eligibility for appearing for JEE is as follows:
- School qualifying examination: The minimum academic qualification is a pass grade in the final examination of the 10+2 system or its equivalent. Those appearing in the 10+2 final or equivalent examination may also appear in JEE for consideration for provisional admission. All provisional admissions stand cancelled if proof of having passed the qualifying examination (10+2 or equivalent) is not submitted to the Institute by September 30th of the year in which admission is sought.
- Date of Birth: Only those candidates whose date of birth falls on or after October 1,1979 are eligible for appearing in JEE-2004. However, in the case of SC, ST and PH candidates, upper age limit is relaxed by 5 years, i.e. those SC/ST/PH candidates who were born on or after October 1, 1974 are eligible.
Reservation of Seats:
In each programme, 15% and 7.5% of seats are reserved for candidates belonging to scheduled caste (SC) and scheduled tribe (ST) categories, respectively. Candidates belonging to these categories are admitted on relaxed criteria. 3% seats are reserved for physically handicapped (PH) (including leprosy-cured) candidates. These candidates must, however, qualify for admission in the general category.
Preferential allotment for children of defense/paramilitary personnel:
Two seats are available for preferential allotment of courses in each Institute for children of defence/paramilitary personnel killed or permanently disabled in action during war or peacetime operations (DS category). To avail this preferential allotment, candidates must qualify for admission in the general category.
In case all the reserved seats in SC/ST category are not filled, other SC/ST candidates failing to qualify even with the relaxed admission norms but satisfying certain other minimum requirements may be offered admission to a preparatory course of one year duration. This course attempts to prepare the students in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. On successful completion of the course, the students are offered direct admission to the undergraduate programmes against the unfilled quota of seats for that year.
