Faculty

Dr. R. Chattopadhyay, FIE graduated from the University of Calcutta in Textile Technology and there after obtained his M. Tech and Ph. D degrees from IIT Delhi in1980 & 1984 respectively. He has handled many administrative position in IIT Delhi such as Head, Department of Textile and Fibre Engineering , Professor In-charge Planning, Chairman JEE, Professor In-charge QIP/ CEP, Warden Aravali hostel . He is involved in teaching, research, consultancy, organising seminars & tailor made courses for industry and academia. He is recipient of Monbhusho scholarship, Japan and Eminent Engineers Award (2014) by the Institution of Engineers (India).

Prof. Chattopadhyay has guided 14 doctoral and 68 master theses and has more than 149 research papers in national , international Journals and conferences. He is member of number of professional societies such as The Institution of Engineers, and ISTE India. Prof. Chattopadhyay is currently member of International Advisory Board for Journal of Textile Engineering , Japan, Chairman, BIS standard on Ropes and cords and Consulting editor for the Journal of Institution of Engineers, India, member Board of Studies TIT&S Bhiwani, Member Board of studies UP Technical university , Member Board of directors (Nitin Spinners , Bhilwara ) . He is a regular reviewer of papers published in Journal of Textile Institute (UK), Textile Research Journal (USA), Indian Journal for Fibre and Textile Research. His current research interest is structure – property- performance relationship of textile products ( yarns, fabric, cords), product development, absorbent products and redesigning NMC Charkha.
